Searing Gorge is a fiery and rocky zone home to a friendly subset of the Dark Iron Clan--the Thorium Brotherhood. The inhospitable environment is due to the summoning of Ragnaros--currently, large mining operations take place in the Cauldron and Slag Pit. Players also get to interact with quirky NPCs like Lunk the non-violent ogre and Evonice Sootsmoker who believes in murder through sleep deprivation.

Reaching Searing Gorge used to be tricky and required a special quest to get a key to open the tunnel between Loch Modan and Searing Gorge.
